During 3 days (10 – 12 May 2017), the 17 projects inplementing the Integrity Pacts are present at the partners meeting in Vilnius, under the coordination of Transparency International Secretariat. The purpose of this working meeting is to exchange information about all projects, gather experiences and bring ideas for the better and wider implementation of the Integrity Pacts. Each partner prepared a short update on the current status, lessons learned up to now and main challenges they are faced with and the other colleagues might give answers on how to overcome.
Over the course of the sessions, detailed discussions are meant to fine-tune the role of the monitor. Main questions brought up are: What should fall within the scope of the monitor’s role and what falls outside and why? What are the specific wrong-doing that the monitor is expected to focus on? What has been monitored to date by those with monitoring experience? How do they make their choices? Project partners develop a greater understanding of the pros and cons of the different options and a greater ability to design their own approach taking into account the risks and opportunities as presented by those with hands on monitoring experience.
The following sessions bring forward the topics of social accountability – how to engage the most affected communities, how to involve media and how to engage the private sector.
The third day ends with dicussing the common input on recommendations for EU post 2020 and this sessions is jointly developed with DG Regio.
The meeting concludes with the next steps envisaged for each of our projects.
