Events

The Romanian Academic Society invites you on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, starting at 17:00, to the online launch event of two tools useful for monitoring the activity of the authorities and supporting the advocacy process at the local level: Guide for responsibility and civic involvement and the animated film YOU start the change YOU expect.

The tools are part of the project Engaged citizens for quality local public services, which aims to contribute directly to improving the quality of urban life by involving citizens – mainly young people – and determining local authorities to provide quality public services.

The main objectives are: (1) Involvement of citizens in improving the quality of urban life by monitoring local public services – transport, education and waste management – in 40 municipalities of county seat and Bucharest (city hall and district town halls) and (2) Capacity building of citizens’ civic involvement, especially young people, in municipalities from each development region by transferring good practices to mobilize Norwegian communities (organizing training sessions and conducting advocacy campaigns at local level to improve the quality of public services monitored).

The event will take place through the Zoom platform and will be broadcast live on the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/romaniacurata.arc

Topics covered:
What are the public institutions that we should not ignore?
What is the role of (1) the local authority and (2) the citizen in the development of public services?
How do the problems of a community reach the attention of decision makers and how can they be solved?
What does it mean to set up a local initiative group and how is born a strong community?
The paths of your involvement: how you bring about change.

❔ Do you always imagine what it would be like to live in a country where services are digitized? Where you don’t have to stand in endless queues and there’s no need for files full of documents? If so, then come along to discuss this topic with the Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization, Sebastian Burduja. It is your chance to receive the answers to all your curiosities related to the digitization of Romania. We are of the opinion that young people must have an active role in the community, so we want there to be as many opportunities as possible to talk with the responsible decision-makers. We will also teach you how to get involved civically to change the community you are in and how to take responsibility for your responsibilities. The event will take place at the “Ovidius” University of Constanța (Campus headquarters), Umberto Eco hall, on March 27. The event will take place between 4:00-5:00 p.m., with access between 3:30-4:00 p.m.: 00. 👉🏻Fill out the registration form here: shorturl.at/msJQV

We are waiting for you with as many questions and curiosities as possible!

#Let’s find out what are the most effective measures to increase the rate of waste collection and recycling at the local level. Because there are localities in Romania that have shown that #SePoate. There are local public administrations that have had the courage to invest resources and effort in waste management measures that have yielded commensurate results.

Date: 28.10.2028 || Time: 18:00 || Location: online – Zoom platform

Why this event and why take the time to join us?
• Because the separate collection and recycling of waste is one of the most important environmental challenges that Romania is currently facing. Our country missed the 50% recycling target imposed by the European Union in 2020, having a recycling rate below 15%.
• Because we have in front of us countless examples of municipalities that are far from the objectives assumed at the European level and even from complying with the minimum requirements in the legislation. Each of these localities can learn from those who have already managed to implement successful models in the field.
• Because sometimes we need to look at the half of the glass, to put the spotlight on those administrations that show us that #ItCan and learn from their experience.
In short, if you want to find out what measures your locality can adopt to increase the rate of waste collection and recycling, then this event is for you!

Let’s take new steps forward, so that we are no longer the European Union’s tailgaters in the Waste Management chapter.
We have successful examples right at home that we can learn from!
